Due to concerns of severely reduced genetic variability, CFA is the first cat registry  to use DNA testing and allow breeders to go back to their foundations by importing cats native to SE Asia.    These cats are of Burmese type, colour and temperament and are DNA tested to confirm that they are a foundation burmese.    Uhm Noi  (Somchai's sire) was acquired in Thailand - born as a temple cat.    He has been fully DNA tested to confirm that he is a foundation burmese.
